System Engineer- Atlanta GA
 Our client, a worldwide leader in diagnostics products is seeking a Sr. System Engineer with strong product development experience to join their Systems Engineering Department at corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA area.
As an engineer in the systems engineering group, you will be a key problem solver and team member of cross-functional new product development projects from concept to manufacturing. You will use expert technical skills to execute R&D product development activities to achieve project goals. You will leverage understanding of engineering principles, engineering methods, data and judgment to inform the course of product development activities.
  • Applying technical expertise to contribute to test method development, implementation and validation for medical device/systems
  • Oversee the design and development of electro-mechanical automated systems for fluid handling and assay execution
  • Assessing design feasibility and testing product functionality and/or confirm product capabilities
  • Participating in new product design and design improvements to existing products
  • Participating in the evaluation and assessment of competitive products, processes and/or new trends
  • Engaging with the OEM’s to provide technical oversight and guidance on the evolution of the design
  • Designing experiments using DOE methodology and analyzing the test results using statistical tools
  • Interpreting the results correctly and provide feedback effectively for design improvement 
As an engineer in the systems engineering group, you must demonstrate ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams. Qualified candidates have strong design engineering, test development, and data analysis skills. You must have experience with requirements development from user needs, design transfer functions and risk management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required Masters/Phd strongly preferred
  • 5+ years minimum relevant experience as a product development engineer in Medical Devices or Complex System Instrument/Automation or scientific instrumentation required with expertise in mechanical development, electrical development, and fluidic handling.
  • Design of Experiments (DOE) required
  • Understanding of fundamental statistics use of tools required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a good background in product development process
  • Experience with ISO requirements and GMP guidelines, FDA regulations, design control and manufacturing scale-up processes
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) experience, a plus
  • Six Sigma certification, a plus
