Job Description
SUMMARY
Set up and operate Computer Numerical Controlled Machines to execute tool paths for the manufacturing of tool and die components including functional and part making features, fixtures and electrodes. Proper implementation of tool and work holding as needed for unconventional setup plans. Understand and follow specific set-up, layout, and inspection instructions. Observe and evaluate manufacturing processes and collect and communicate relevant information. Drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
 
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
  • Good communication, organization, team, and relation skill
  • Skilled knowledge and understanding of machine tools, cutting tools, tool holding, work holding, and precision measuring equipment
  • Sufficient knowledge of manufacturing processes and machine capabilities including traditional and nontraditional machining
  • Use of Job Order Paperwork, Set-up Sheets, and Engineering Drawings to determine set-up procedures, machining sequences, and dimensional requirements.
  • Awareness and identification of process improvements for quality, reliability, and efficiency
  • Observation of machine operation:
    • Prevent malfunctions due to worn or damaged cutting tools, and replace as needed
    • Make adjustments to machine feed & speed to maximize efficiency
  • Develop and/or execute an inspection plan and inspect parts using precision tools & techniques, document results.
  • Keep the duty station tools, workbenches, and all equipment clean, maintained, and safe for work.
  • Inspect and assess the general condition of an assigned machine tool and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect and assess the condition of tooling, recommend repair, reconditioning or replacement when appropriate.
  • Carry out assigned responsibilities while adhering to safe practices in accordance with OSHA requirements and guidelines.
