Bench Chemist  - in a Chemical Manufacturing Company
Location:  Northern suburbs of Philadelphia  near Plymouth Meeting/ Lansdale  PA

As Lab Chemist / Bench Chemist you’ll support product development, process development, and customer service teams within a well-established chemical manufacturing company reporting to work in a new laboratory.

Responsibilities:
Working as a bench chemist on formulation and synthesis, you’ll become a go-to technical resource in this department that focusses on surfactants used in a variety of industrial applications.
 
  • Routine and customized testing of current products in support of customer service efforts.
  • Testing of new experimental formulations and competitors’ products in support of on-going product development efforts; evaluate surfactants for various applications (lubrication, foaming, viscosity modification, wetting, dispersion and etc.)
  • Support product development through organic synthesis/formulations; generating new product formulas on a bench scale.
  • Participate in scale-up and initial plant trails.
  • Interface with regulatory personnel (MSDS, toxicology, and etc.) and marketing personnel for production administrative requirements.
  • Assisting the sales staff, Interact with customers as required to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Generate detailed reports and project updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of data with conclusions and recommendations; Enter data into a laboratory information management system.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment.
  • Collect and handle product samples using proper labeling and storage procedures.
  • Maintain the laboratory in safe, organized, and well stocked functional condition.
 
Applicant Qualifications:
  • BS Chemistry (mandatory), open to MS Chemists as well
  • 5+ years of experience in industry working as a bench chemist
    • This position will not be a good fit for a PhD researcher
  • Organic synthesis and physical testing experience in a fast paced work environment
  • The ability to juggle many tasks at once
  • Excellent  written & verbal communication skills
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the USA without restrictions.
