Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW: Our client located in Lincolnshire, IL is looking for a hands on Data Center Lead Engineer to take responsibility for the installation of the IT infrastructure, including running cables, setting up data closets, and working within building and fire codes. The right candidate will act as a subject matter expert for the design and implementation phases of data centers, hardware rooms, and infrastructure. This role will also be responsible for room layouts for network and voice drops, racks, power and power supplies, cabling and wiring, and connectivity placement. The right candidate will also collaborate with IT staff to develop disaster and reliability plans and testing. Essentially, this person should be able to set up a manufacturing plant from the ground up.

This contract position can be located in Lincolnshire, IL or Mason, MI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and support the IT infrastructure facility installation and maintenance
  • Negotiate with vendors and manage vendor relationships
  • Draft and navigate technical drawings in CAD and Visio
  • Support, manage, and educate other IT team members
  • Collaborate with the facilities engineering department and contractors on maintenance, issue resolutions, and project development
  • Assess infrastructure systems for efficiency, capacity, and proper maintenance
  • Collaborate as a first responder in emergencies as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced to senior level Telecom system design, installation, and maintenance experience
  • Advanced to senior level data center or communication room infrastructure experience
  • Advanced to senior level data center or communication room hardware experience
  • Advanced to senior level experience with IT cooling systems and requirements
  • Ability to travel between IL and MI, and possibly internationally for a total of up to 25%
  • Knowledgeable of building codes and fire codes
  • Ability to work off-hours support as needed

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

  • Telecom or networking certifications
  • Telephone system experience
  • Spanish language skills

This is a 6 Month contract position with no visa sponsorships available, and we do not work with any-third party consulting firms.
