Job Description
EHS Director needed for manufacturing facility located in the Carrollton, Texas area.
 
EHS Director will be responsible for management of all safety compliance issues related to OSHA, federal, state and local, and for the execution of the environmental program. This position will possess a high level of authority in regards to training & guiding employees based on safety needs with the goal of eliminating workplace accidents/injuries/illnesses, reducing work related injury costs, and complying with all environmental, safety and health laws and regulations.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs including, but not limited to, hazard identification, evaluation and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous materials/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene and environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, coordinate and enforce programs to achieve and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, local codes and regulations.
  • Coordinates HSE systems and programs to reduce the risk of injuries or losses and to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Perform needs assessments and root cause investigations. Lead investigations of accidents and injuries
  • Participate in compliance audits taking proactive measures to remediate all adverse EHS conditions.
  • Participates in air permitting, waste management program and environmental procedures development
  • Coordinate hazard communication program regarding MSDS maintenance, hazardous chemicals and other substances.
  • Work with facilities management to maintain compliance with all environmental regulations.
  • Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals as well as company standards and procedures.
  • Provides EHS support for training and employee awareness.
  • Oversees new hire training and the timely training of employees to meet state and federal requirements.
  • Maintain all records and documents necessary to support compliance and training activities.
  • Review and recommend the proper PPE as needed for each department and job function.
  • Expert knowledge of Federal, State and Local safety and environmental regulations for company
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in safety, environmental sciences or engineering or equivalent; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated EHS management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Certified Safety Professional - CSP Work Environment: Job duties are performed in an office setting, the manufacturing plant and outside.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred
