Job Description

JOB TITLE: Electrical Designer

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position provides support to the engineering department

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Electrical Engineer

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours on a regular basis (additional hours of work as necessary). Position requires remaining stationary for long periods of time with prolonged periods of monitoring computer screens and displays. Use office equipment such as but not limited to, copier, and fax machine is essential.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily works in an indoor office that is typically temperature controlled and clean with normal air contaminants. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include noise/hearing protection, and safety glasses with side shields while in the manufacturing facility as necessary. Protective toe boots are not required when employee is in designated walkways in the plant.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other functions may be assigned as necessary.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Discuss projects with project team to review functions of equipment and systems, interface with project team regularly to resolve technical issues to ensure expectations are met

· Work with engineering personnel to develop electrical drawing packages in AutoCAD

· Assist automation personnel with field research of existing electrical systems, testing of installed systems, and commissioning of the PLC/HMI based control systems

· Perform project tasks while adhering to scope, schedule, and budget constraints

· Utilize, support, and enhance Automation’s standards and best practices

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

· Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)

· Demonstrated proficiency with the use of AutoCAD Electric or other design software packages.

· Knowledge of current National Electrical Code.

· Demonstrated understanding of commonly used electrical symbols, schematics, and components

· Proficiency with computer technologies in including, but not limited to, Windows Operation System and the use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel

· Possession of strong organizational skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
