Job Description
Maintains and enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations, payroll and benefits needs and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

Human Resource Specialist Duties:
  • Prepares weekly payroll checks and maintains appropriate payroll records and employee files.
  • Maintains employee benefits programs (including but not limited to vacation, holidays, tool program, insurance program, wellness programs and 401K) and informs employees of benefits; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintains and updates employee handbook as necessary.
  • Administers the Attendance Program.
  • Maintains training records: fork truck and on the job training.
  • Holds the position of Safety Committee Director, holding meetings at the intervals necessary.
  • Maintains a pay plan(classifications and pay rates) by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
  • Establish with management a written test for all new employees.
  • Conduct initial interviews to collect information and to administer the test, if the candidate appears to meet the established criteria.  Set-up follow-up appointment interviews with potential employees.  Maintain and keep current a list of candidates for possible future hiring.
  • Prepare and place recruitment ads, commercials, etc.  Track the results of different media to determine the most effective.
  • Oversee employee appreciation events and rewards, as well as sending tokens of congratulations and condolences.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
