Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs technical material planning and process work.  Works closely with the other departments to establish engineering processes ensuring completeness and accuracy. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude.  Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

  • Creates and maintains engineering masters used to create work orders; updates cycle time for machining operations
  • Schedules, prints and releases work orders and other necessary documentation to control the sequence of operations during manufacturing; verifies accuracy of paperwork upon printing
  • Monitors inventory levels of current stock; plans vendor-managed inventory for parts to ensure stock requirements are fulfilled
  • Works with the Methods department to create and develop supporting documentation for the manufacturing process (i.e. models, drawings, and inspection documentation)
  • Updates part revisions and work orders per Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) in the Visual Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Reviews the production schedule and verifies that required materials are available and approved by the Quality department
  • Evaluates suppliers based on price, quality, availability, service support, reliability and selection
  • Discusses defective goods with inspection or quality control personnel, suppliers, and others to determine the origin and take corrective action
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three or more years’ material planning or process technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Advanced knowledge of Visual ERP and work order and process creation
  • Working knowledge of the principles and methods of effective project management
  • General knowledge and understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR820 as it pertains to the job
  • Skilled in the use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, SolidWorks software, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Skilled in basic math including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometric construction, practical algebra and metrics
  • Skilled in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Skilled in setting priorities that move projects through efficiently to achieve customer and quality objectives
  • Skilled in working independently and following through with assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to analyze costs
  • Ability to use reasoning skills that minimize duplication of efforts, including but not limited to comparing, classifying, analyzing and coordinating
  • Ability to multi-task while working with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing
