This project involves the migration of legacy business system applications from existing Government hosting environments to Amazon’s AWS or Microsoft Azure.  This will include the development of all relevant project plans, the implementation of a structured program management and systems engineering process, the implementation of Agile software development principles, and the coordination and collaborate implementation of all activities across stakeholder groups such as Government PMOs, functional user communities, DISA (current hosting environment), AWS or Azure (target hosting environment), multiple test organizations, the Government Capabilities Integration Environment (CIE), and multiple security groups.

The successful candidate will perform in a lead database management role supporting the migration of multiple applications from current hosting environments in Government hosting facilities to either Amazon’s AWS or Microsoft Azure. 

  • Evaluate legacy system application performance
  • Sizing and identify the hardware footprint required to support the application in the target environment
  • Coordinate the establishment of target production and test environments
  • Monitor hardware performance and recommending updates as necessary
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation
  • Support performance testing

  • 8+ years focused on hardware hosting, AWS and/or Azure hosting, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Security+ certification
  • Experience with application re-hosting, network ports & protocols, hardware cabling
  • Experience with hardware sizing, performance testing, and performance tuning
  • Experience with rapid deployment of DoD accredited Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA) and Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) operating environments,
  • Experience with hardware sizing and capacity management.
  • Knowledge of performance testing techniques and tools,
  • Experience with a wide variety of existing mainframe, client server, and web-based application hosting platforms, peripheral devices, and monitoring tools,
  • Knowledge and experience with virtualized machines and operating environments (i.e., Unix, Solaris, Redhat Linux, Unisys, etc.)
  • US Citizenship required
