Job Designation

Reporting to the Structural Manufacturing Manager,  this position is responsible for all planning, releasing, rescheduling and coordinating of manufacturing orders based on Material Resource Planning system requirements and manufacturing capacities.  Will release orders based on customer schedules as defined by Master Planning; and will coordinate the production and service work performed through all departments to assure dates, deliveries and other contract requirements are met. Responsibilities will also include assisting with material coordination, inventory control and product shipping/receiving management. 

 

Responsibilities for the Planner will include:
  • Determining re-planning urgent jobs with expedited completion dates as required;
  • Maintaining progress records and communicating problem areas for corrective action;
  • Maintaining cognizance of requirements versus availability of labor and work center capacities;
  • Monitoring engineering changes affecting assigned products and taking appropriate action to ensure compliance;
  • Pinpointing delays and bottlenecks, forecasting possible trouble areas, and preparing reports on contract progress;
  • Recommending action to be taken by other problems assisting production supervision in eliminating line shortage or technical problems;
  • Analyzing contract status reports in order to project shipment dates which are used by Marketing as delivery commitment dates to the customer.
  • May be required to guide and assist the efforts of less experienced personnel, insure records and files are maintained as necessary, and perform other departmental duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education:      A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a technical field is preferable; equivalent experience will be considered..
Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field.

Years Experience: A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent; One (1) or more years of experience in preparing detailed parts schedules is preferred.

Skills: 

  • Working knowledge of Material Resource Planning/Material Resource Planning II and Basic CRD skills

  • Experience in production control or order scheduling, as well as standard commercial packaging procedures 

  • Able to apply a systematic disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail

  • Proficient Microsoft Windows software applications
