Job Description

Our client, a nationally acclaimed interdisciplinary research center seeks an expert resource and thought leader to advise in all facets of data science and data management.  You will build high-performance big data capabilities leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning.  You will actively contribute to data management and analysis activities across units within the research center in the creation of an eco-system of tools, applications and processes to support funded grant and contract research activities. 


You will collaborate closely in the development of proposals and research plans including methodologies, estimates of effort, deliverables - milestones, timelines, and statements of work. You will lead team members in the development of creative solutions for designing, implementing, and supporting a variety of user data systems and tools.  You will actively participate in center strategic planning activities and direct the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the data science, information management, and database functions. You will provide the vision and strategy, and develop policies and procedures for maintaining confidentiality of proprietary data in an active research setting, leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning concepts, and a wide array of data processing infrastructure technologies (batch and real-time).

Musts:  PhD/MS with proven leadership and enterprise-level consulting skills in the areas of design, development and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts, databases, logical data models, linkages between datasets, classification schemas, data architecture, data integrity, big data transformation, enterprise data development and architecture, and technical product management. Proven analytical skills and experience with distributed platforms, engines and tools, data modeling, predictive modelling, and machine learning. A successful coach and mentor. Leadership ability.


Pluses: Functional and-or matrix management experience. Grant writing. Proposals.
