Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or other technically related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in chemical or other related plant safety, health and emergency management
  • Intermediate computer skills

Job Responsibilities:

Our client has an opening for a Senior Occupational Safety & Security Manager. This position will report through the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Department.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Manages the Safety, Emergency Management and Security groups
  • Leads the overall safety performance through interactive and collaborative strategies for continuous improvement
  • Develops and implements safety, emergency and security policies, standards and procedures for the facility
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements through the development and administration of programs, training and record keeping
  • Provides an effective emergency response capability.  Ensures equipment systems (fire trucks, fixed water sprays, portable equipment) and employees (first responders, emergency response team) are adequately prepared to handle emergency conditions
  • Hires, trains and develops personnel for duties and assignments
  • Ensures that all incidents and near misses are investigated, documented and recommends future corrective actions.  Tracks assigned corrective actions to ensure that they completed in a timely manner
  • Identifies hazards, sets strategies to minimize hazards and monitors performance
  • Participates in the Behavioral Based Safety process
  • Interacts with all levels of management and manufacturing personnel within the region’s operating facilities as well as Safety personnel at other sites and RSA.  Also represents Company with outside agencies such as LEPC, LAIA, CAER, National Safety Council, American Chemistry Council, Citizen Advisory Panels, OSHA, LCA, NPRA, etc.
